How many of you have asked yourself “what the hell is wrong with me? How come I keep creating the same stuff over and over again in my life?” I remember asking myself that question for years as I was struggling with my anxiety. I just couldn’t figure it out why I was anxious all the time. I was eating right. I exercised. I meditated. All to no avail. I just couldn’t seem to get a handle on my anxiety. I was convinced that there must be something wrong with me and if I could just figure out what it was then I’d be able to find the peace I so desperately sought. Let me tell you something you can’t ever figure it out. Trying to figure it out is just another way to keep you stuck. Here’s what I finally discovered. There’s nothing wrong with you. As a matter of fact whatever it is you’re creating you’re doing it successfully. I don’t care what it is. It could be anxiety, depression, relationships, finances, or career. If you keep creating the same thing over and over again it’s because you’re successfully doing something internally to do it. I remember I had this wonderful teacher who told me “Frank stop trying to figure it out. You’re in the house of mirrors. The minute you think you’ve found you’re way out you run into another mirror.” So many of us spend so much time analyzing why things are the way they are. “Why do I feel this way. Why can’t I have a successful relationship? Why do I always attract the same types of abusive people in my life? There must be something wrong with me!” So if you’re creating something you don’t want, see what it is that you’re doing internally to successfully produce it. What I’ve come to realize is this. We carry stories within us, all kinds of stories, about who we think we are, what we’re capable of, or not, what we believe we deserve, or don’t, stories about our past, our future, and on and on. They’re just stories and only become our reality if we believe them. What if they weren’t true? What if we had the power to change our view of our stories so significantly that we could literally change how we feel and what we create in the present.
Take care.
Frank.
